The comparison is obviously bold and premature, but the prospect of seeing the pink sphere in action in three dimensions for the first time is undoubtedly intriguing. Greater freedom of movement, combined with Kirby's multiple chameleon abilities, could indeed represent the right springboard for building a platformer with stimulating and intricate level design.

On the structural front, Nintendo promises the pink puffball the possibility of "freely exploring three-dimensional areas". A generic phrase, but one that immediately brought to mind the worlds of the aforementioned Super Mario Odyssey: could the new Kirby and the Forgotten Land hide an odyssey with a similar structure?

Despite the variety of climatic conditions, every gameplay sequence of Kirby and the Forgotten Land maintains the same "colorful post-apocalyptic scenario" mood. Small details on screen constantly remind us of a glorious past dominated by a mysterious lost civilization. Among amusement parks, ruins of homes, bridges, and skyscrapers, it's all too easy to conclude that the Pink Sphere has ended up on an Earth that has now freed itself of humans.

Although what we've seen in the trailer currently leads us to confidently hypothesize a setting made up of open-world thematic macro-areas, we will need to wait for more details to get absolute confirmation. However, Hal Laboratory's desire to have their spherical hero venture into widely differentiated scenarios is quite evident. In the announcement trailer alone, we have already been able to admire desolate urban contexts and abandoned amusement parks, alternated with more airy landscapes, including tropical islands, deserts, and snowy areas.
